Welcoming Catherine Chivers to the Aged Care Steps team
As the dust settles on the new Aged Care Act, one thing is clear. This year is shaping up to be a big one.
We are navigating significant legislative change, watching Services Australia policies evolve in real time, and seeing aged care providers respond in different ways. Add to that a growing volume of conflicting information and increasing administrative complexity, and it is fair to say many advisers are feeling the strain.
In plain terms, it is messy.
But this is exactly where clear thinking, strong technical insight and practical support matter most.
At Aged Care Steps, we are gearing up to do more. More support. More clarity. More strategic guidance to help advisers cut through the noise and give clients advice they can trust, along with greater peace of mind during what is often a stressful life transition.
As part of that commitment, we are delighted to welcome Catherine Chivers to our team.
Strengthening our technical and strategic capability
Catherine joins Aged Care Steps as our new Strategic Advice Manager, with more than 15 years’ experience across financial services, spanning technical services, strategic advice, business consulting, and policy and advocacy.
Before joining us, Catherine spent 13 years as Senior Manager, Strategic Advice at Perpetual Private, where she worked closely with advisers on complex advice challenges. Her deep experience in legislative analysis and advice advocacy gives her a practical understanding of the real-world issues advisers face, especially when rules are changing and guidance is unclear.
Catherine brings a strong strategic lens to aged care advice. She is focused on identifying compliant, effective advice opportunities that genuinely work for clients, not just in theory, but in practice.
She also continues to give back to the profession as an active FAAA Advice Ambassador, contributing through advocacy and thought leadership.
Catherine holds CFP® and SSATM designations, along with a Master of Financial Planning, a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning and a Bachelor of Economics. She is currently completing a Diploma of Law, further strengthening her already impressive technical foundation.
Looking ahead
Catherine’s appointment is part of a broader focus for the year ahead.
Alongside expanding our technical team, we are investing in new training, improved tools and a fresh look at how we support advisers through the increasing complexity of aged care advice.
It will be a busy year. But it will also be a productive one.
We are excited about what lies ahead and proud to have Catherine on board as we continue to support advisers through change, uncertainty and opportunity.
Welcome, Catherine.
