The Accredited Aged Care ProfessionalTM program has been developed by Aged Care Steps to build your competency in aged care advice. The diagram below provides an outline of the components. An accreditation certificate will be supplied to you upon successful completion of all three components.
The accreditation program runs over two days (to be done consecutively) with Essentials modules to be completed before attending the workshop.
The full program has been approved for 20.75 CPD points from the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Assessments apply to various components of the accreditation program.
The accreditation logo
Successful completion of the Aged Care Steps accreditation program provides an attainment certificate which advisers can display in their office to identify themselves to clients and prospective clients as an aged care advice professional.
Upon successful completion, advisers may also wish to note that they are an Accredited Aged Care ProfessionalTM in marketing activities. You can use the accreditation logo on your website, email signature or other marketing material.
Aged Care Essentials
These modules are designed to be a self-learning experience and provide advisers with the core knowledge needed to understand aged care and the options available to clients. It comprises five (5) modules for the essentials of:
- The aged care industry
- Aged accommodation choices
- ACAT and home care
- Centrelink and Veterans’ Affairs
- Residential aged care fees.
Each module should expect to take 1-1.5 hours to complete. A multiple-choice quiz must be completed to finalise this component and receive CPD points.
The modules are included in the registration fee for the accreditation workshop and should be completed before attending that workshop so that you have the basics covered.
Aged Care Advice Steps
This module goes beyond the basics to show you how to provide advice to your clients and develop the skills to build an effective aged care advice business.
This is an interactive workshop that will step you through the process for creating strategic solutions for clients who are looking at aged care scenarios for themselves, a parent or other relative. Using case studies, you will work through practical examples of how to approach advice, the new rules for aged care and strategy recommendations.
The workshop includes:
- A deeper understanding of fees and what is happening in practice within the care industry
- The steps for creating advice solutions
- Case studies to analyse the impact of strategies including options for the former home
- The tips and traps for couples
- Understanding negotiations with aged care facilities
Advanced Aged Care
Builds on the Day 1 skills by working through more complex case studies to further develop advice skills.
Put your knowledge into practice and create advice solutions for several aged care client scenarios. These case studies will develop your skills in creating and evaluating appropriate strategies for clients and help you to identify the main issues for clients.
It is a hands-on workshop which will require you to do the analysis and discuss the outcomes in a group environment, with facilitation by one of our experienced trainers, for an experiential learning outcome.
Need help to determine how to build aged care advice into business? The second part of this workshop provides guidance to help you set up a business plan for aged care advice. Discuss client value propositions, service packages, pricing and marketing opportunities.
